What to look for in a Men's Electric Shaver
Much like taking a bath or a shower, shaving is essential to maintaining good hygiene. However, some people turn what should be a simple and pleasant task into a difficult to get on with experience.
Take for instance, shaving. If you’re one those men who use disposable razors, do you ever take the time to consider how much money you’re spending on those razors? Because I guarantee you if you did, you’d take a close look at maybe switching to an electric razor.
For example, if you spend say 5 bucks for a bag of disposable razors per week, in a year you’ll have spent about $260. Oh, by the way, that money is spent for an unpleasant and sometimes quite painful experience. Why would anyone want to spend that kind of money for a product that you have to keep replacing day after day? Especially for something that you gain no kind of enjoyment from. Unless, of course, you’re a glutton for punishment.
If you’re considering switching to an electric razor, there are a couple of things you need to know before moving on:
There are basically two types of electric shavers
- Foil shavers - which offer a close and smooth shave
- Rotary Shavers – for men who prefer to shave every two to three days and it’s better for tricky areas of the face
Some things to look for:
- Price – This is one area you don’t want to be stingy on. Avoid those cheap and off-brand models. They’ll make you wish you’d stayed with the disposable razors. If your budget won’t allow you to splurge, you can always opt for a good quality brand such as Braun, except you can buy a model with less features.
- Adjustment period – Allow yourself enough time to adjust to your new shaver. Most men require about 25 to 30 days to adjust to a new electric shaver. Just make sure when you buy yours you get it from a manufacturer that provides a least a 30 day warranty.
- Noise and comfort – Make sure you check the noise level of the shaver is something you’re comfortable with and it will glide smoothly across your face.
- Quick charge vs. long life – Try to get a shaver that offers both options. That way if it quits on you in the middle of shaving, you won’t have to wait an hour or so to finish shaving.
- Cordless shavers vs. corded – This option is totally an individual taste. As for me, I prefer the convenience of being able to walk around the house and do other things while shaving cordless electric shaver and not have to be stuck in one spot when I could be getting the coffee going or something else and not skip a beat.
